Brainspotting
"Where you look effects how you feel"
Brainspotting uses the visual system to identify specific eye positions, referred to as “brainspots,” that help locate deeply held emotions or memories to process and release. Based on the principle that “where you look affects how you feel,” this technique can help uncover and let go of unconscious beliefs that may be holding you back.
This method is highly effective and promotes rapid healing by bypassing the thinking and analyzing functions of the neocortex. Since analyzing can interfere with emotional processing, Brainspotting allows us to access the subcortical brain, a more instinctive and emotional region. This part of the brain stores sensations, emotions, memories, and intuition, making it an ideal area for processing trauma.
The subcortical brain, located near the brainstem, communicates directly with the body, creating a strong brain-body connection during Brainspotting sessions. This somatic approach focuses on the body’s physical sensations alongside the brain’s healing process. Through this connection, symptoms, pain, and even physical illnesses related to trauma can be addressed and released effectively during Brainspotting therapy.
